Sha'ar La'Adam – Bab Lil'Insan activities focus mainly around joint activities shared by both Jewish and Arab communities in the area, with the aim of creating neighborly relations based on mutual acquaintance, trust and solidarity. The main part of those activities takes place in the seminar center at Sha'ar La'Adam – Bab Lil'Insan forest. This is an ecological seminar center which operates and facilitates activities for youth and adults, as well as a bio-dynamic garden, community living experience programs hosting and accommodation center and a yearly arts festival. But in addition to those, we are also active in the Galilee area, developing educational programs and regional activity for improving the relationship between Arab and Jewish people.
Ecological Center, Bio-Dynamic Garden and Ecological Building
In the heart of the forest between Kaabiyye and Harduf, we operate a communal ecological experiential center. This center includes learning workshops that represent models of a communal ecological way of life. We host group encounters between Jews and Arabs for schools, adults, youth from abroad etc. Moreover, we also operate am educational garden for learning about the bio-dynamic agricultural method, and finally, we specialize in ecological building methods.
The Ten Project
In collaboration with the Jewish Agency and Masa Tlalim, in March 2014 we welcomed a volunteering program for young Jewish people from all over the world to Sha'ar La'Adam- Bab Lilinsan. The "Ten" Project aspires to strengthen the volunteers' relationship to the Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) taken, which can lead to sustainable development in developing countries.
During their volunteering period, they will work doing sustainable development projects with the local Jewish and Arab population, in collaboration with local associations and organisations. The young people will undergo a learning program regarding identity and relationship to Israel, as well as on subjects related to their volunteering activities.
Jewish and Arab Theater
The Shfaram–Harduf theatre course has been active since the 2006-2007 school year, after operating for about two years as an afternoon activity for youth from Shfaram, Harduf and the area. This course is aimed at pupils of classes 10 – 12. It is recognised by the Ministry of Education as a course of study for the matriculation exams, and it is supported by the Galileo Trust. The course of study includes both theoretical and practical lessons, as well as various joint artistic projects.
The Common Path
The Common Path – Al-Tarik Al-Moushtarik – is an enterprise involving the foundation of thinking and acting teams of Jewish and Arab civilians coming from various activity areas, who together form a common life culture between Jewish and Arab people, whilst guarding the interests of both sides in their area.
The Galilean Parliament
We act toward the foundation of a common public Galilean Parliament, appealing to the mayors and heads of local councils, as well as to social activists who interested in participating, to take initiative and create enterprises, activities and common mutual dialogue between Arab and Jewish people.
The Galilean Breeze Festival
Once a year, over the Shavuot holiday, in collaboration with the Hamila Theatre, a unique festival is held in the forest between Harduf and Kaabiyye. The place opens up its gates for Jewish and Arab residents, and invites them to become acquainted with our activity. The people who come to the festival experience the atmosphere and the spirit of the place and become acquainted with the leading questions which inspire our work.
The House of Devotion
The House of Devotion, which is currently under construction, is planned to become a place of prayer and contemplation for Jews, Muslims and Christians, but not exclusively – it will be there for every person who may not be connected to a specific religion or spiritual path, yet seeks a place where he or she can connect quietly with the unseen world in the midst of today's busy lives.
